FAQ
Questions?
Why should I get pool service?
expand_circle_down
The short answer is, you don't have get pool service! But your pool does need regular maintenance, and it's less fun when it's you who has to do it. Pools need maintenance not just for cosmetic reasons, but also for the longevity of the pool system. Just like your car needs oil changes and other regular maintenance, so does your pool. With more frequent cleanings and service, the easier it is on your pool pump and other parts of your pool system, and the longer the longevity of the pool. Plus, we think it's more fun to look out your backyard to a clean pool!
How often should I test the chemistry of my pool?
expand_circle_down
At least once a week. Proper balance is important for safety of your friends and family who use the pool. But even when no one is using the pool, proper chemistry matters. And it's easy for pool chemistry to get out of balance. For example, if there are heavy rains, or you have a pool party, chemicals can move outside their ideal ranges quickly. Have you ever tested your pool right before a pool party and right after? You'll notice a big difference. Especially if it's a kid pool party...
What happens during my first free service?
expand_circle_down
Our first service is free and we never try to sell you on anything. It's a chance for you to meet our team and see our work.
For our first service, we ask that you book a time when you will be at home and available to show us around. This helps us get familiar with your pool, ask any questions, and understand your needs. For regular service thereafter, there's no need to be at home during our service.
Feel free to choose any time that works for your schedule.
During our first visit, we will: - Introduce ourselves and describe our services - Ask for a tour of your pool so that we can see the layout and setup - Ask about any quirks or other considerations we should be aware of when servicing your pool - Perform our first service for free, including skimming, brushing / vacuuming, basket cleaning, chemical testing, and balancing (as needed)
Note that we are not able to perform a full filter clean on the first visit. We need to see your system first to understand the filter type (sand, cartridge, DE), and we often need to make sure to stock special products depending on the type of filter you have.
So, chemicals are included?
expand_circle_down
Chemicals required to balance your pool on a weekly basis are included! We hate surprise costs and we bet you do too. That's why our price is inclusive of weekly chemicals.
There are only two scenarios where costs in excess of the flat weekly rate might be charged: - Your pool is green and requires a Green-to-Clean servicing - Your filters are cleaned, and you have a filter system that requires new equipment or product. For example, your cartridges are old and require replacing.
In each of these scenarios, we'd make it clear to you what we think your pool needs, and with your approval we would pass that through at cost. But anything required to balance your pool on a weekly basis is included in our flat rate pricing.
We think it's often more time consuming and less efficient to inventory and bill for the precise amount of each chemical we add to your pool. That's why we think it's best to just charge a flat rate and add the required chemicals when they are required.
How long does a typical service visit last?
expand_circle_down
A typical maintenance visit is about 20 minutes but can be up to an hour, depending on the condition of your pool (like visiting after a July dust storm...), and the plan you have. During this time, we'll perform a thorough cleaning, test the water chemistry, and adjust as necessary to ensure your pool stays sparkling and healthy.
Do I need to be home during the maintenance service?
expand_circle_down
No, you don't need to be home during our maintenance service. We understand that our clients have busy schedules, so we've designed our service to be as unobtrusive as possible. Just ensure we have access to your pool area, and we'll take care of the rest. If there are any special instructions or concerns, please let us know in advance, and we'll do our best to accommodate them.
For your first service, homeowners do find it helpful to schedule during a time where they will be home, so they can see for themselves what work is performed, ask any questions of the technician, and provide any other details or tips for servicing their pool.
What happens if there is severe weather during my scheduled service?
expand_circle_down
Light rain and wind usually don't interfere with our pool maintenance services. However, in the event of severe weather, especially if there is lightning, we may need to reschedule to ensure the safety of our technicians. If this happens, we'll reach out to you to arrange an alternative date that works for you.
How does billing work?
expand_circle_down
Billing for our maintenance service is done on a monthly basis. At the start of each month, you'll receive an invoice for that month's scheduled visits (in other words, on the first of the month, you'll receive an invoice for the rest of that month). Payments can be made via various methods, including credit card, bank transfer, or check. If you have any billing inquiries or require different arrangements, please contact us. Most customers find it easiest to set up automatic billing, which we make as simple as possible on our payment portal.
We do not visit during Thanksgiving or Christmas week, except for commercial customers.
How can I provide feedback on the service I receive?
expand_circle_down
We greatly value feedback from our clients! After each service visit, you'll get the results of your test and any notes from your service technician. Included in that note will be a way to provide feedback or suggestions.
You can also call or text us any time.
How do I cancel?
expand_circle_down
Canceling is easy. You can give us a call, email us at service@splashmobpools.com, or do it via your online account portal. When you cancel, we'll return your pro-rated membership for the month. In other words, if you just paid for the upcoming month and have not yet received any service for that month when you cancel, we refund that month's membership in full. If you received one service, you will get 75% of that month refunded.
