Buying a home is a big deal, and you wouldn't (or at least shouldn't) think of making a purchase before getting a home inspection. A pool is one of the most expensive features of a home, and we think it deserves special attention. That's why we strongly advise homebuyers to conduct a thorough pool inspection (separate from and in addition to the traditional home inspection) to identify any potential problems up front. Plus, when you buy the home, you'll have all the information in one place to take care of your pool (water volume, filtration & circulation system, sanitization system, water-fill system, etc.).
During our pool inspection, we complete a 50-point checklist covering type and condition across: Pool Shell, Filtration Equipment, Circulation Equipment, Sanitization & Chemistry, Heating / Chilling, Decking, and Lighting.
Our pricing is a flat, $100 fee for a 50-point inspection. If you choose Splash Mob for weekly service, that fee is credited towards your weekly service.
What Happens During a Pool Inspection?
When you hire Splash Mob for your pool inspection, we check all systems, recording both type and condition of the equipment. Having a record of the type of equipment (and even the gallon volume of the pool) is useful when you move in and start servicing your pool. Your chemistry and cleaning schedule depends on knowing the type of equipment you have and how much water is in your pool. We also inspect condition of the equipment and report back. We conduct a 50-point checklist across the following 6 categories:
Pool Shell
Inspect main drains, surface, return inlets, skimmer, weir, and auto-fill system. Calculate gallon volume of pool to make chemical balancing accurate and precise.
Filtration Equipment
Note type of filter and brand. Inspect air pressure release valve, filter container, and leaf baskets. For DE and sand filters, ensure backwash valve is operational.
Circulation Equipment
Note type and brand of pump. Inspect pump & motor, pop-ups, vacuums. Start up pump and check for leaks and adequate prime. Ensure timer is operational.
Sanitization & Chemistry
Test water to ensure chemicals are in adequate range. Note sanitization system (salt cell, chlorine). If salt cell, check plates and test salt level.
Heating & Chilling
Inspect heating & chilling equipment (if applicable). Check system start-up and operation.
Decking and Lighting
Ensure decking is free from visible damage. Note any lighting systems and verify lights are operational.
